Jeff D. Papineau is president of Midwest Energy Resources Company (MERC), and oversees the functions of MERC, as well as the operation of its Superior Midwest Energy Terminal (SMET).
Prior to becoming president at MERC, Mr. Papineau was responsible for managing the financial and administrative functions at MERC. Mr. Papineau was also involved in the marketing and general management of SMET with a focus on contract administration for coal and transportation services. Mr. Papineau has over 20 years of accounting experience and prior to joining the company in 2007, held various financial and tax management positions for a company in the medical device manufacturing industry.
Mr. Papineau earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and obtained CPA certification (inactive) from the State of Minnesota in 1999.
Marshall A. Elder has more than 39 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering and design of generating station and material handling systems; 34 of those years include management positions in these areas. As Director-Terminal Operations, Mr. Elder is responsible for managing operations, maintenance, environmental and engineering project activities of SMET. Mr. Elder joined the company in 1996 as General Superintendent and was named to Manager-Terminal Operations in 1998 and Director-Terminal Operations in 2004. Prior to joining MERC, Mr. Elder served in engineering/management positions for more than 13 years at a 650 megawatt electric generating station. That experience included start-up of the newly constructed station in 1982.
Mr. Elder earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electronics from Indiana State University.
