Overview

What is the DTE Energy Multifamily Program?

The DTE Energy Multifamily Program is an energy efficiency initiative designed to help multifamily buildings reduce energy usage and energy costs.

By installing free energy-saving upgrades*, tenants and owners can save money on their utility bills, increase comfort and contribute to a more environmentally friendly living space. Owners can also receive incentives when they upgrade to qualifying, energy-efficient equipment, such as HVAC, lighting and water heating, at their property.

Who is this program for?

The DTE Energy Multifamily Program is for multifamily property managers and owners. The types of multifamily properties that commonly participate in this program include apartments, co-operative housing, condominiums, senior living facilities and dormitories.

Which products are eligible?

Multifamily properties that meet the following requirements are eligible:

  • Have DTE Energy as their natural gas and/or electric provider
  • Have three or more units under one roof

Properties with DTE for one service and Consumers Energy for another can still participate. Click on the FAQ tab to learn more.

Have less than three units? Visit our Home Energy Consultation page to learn more.

How does the Multifamily Program work?

Want to get started? Request a free energy assessment. After the assessment, a member of our team will review your energy-saving opportunities and assist you on the next steps for implementing your selected upgrades. Already know how you want to save? Skip the assessment and explore our complete list of incentives and program requirements. You can either work with a contractor to install the most cost-effective measures for your property or install them yourself.

*Energy-saving products installed are dependent upon DTE Energy account type and eligibility. Incentives are available while funds last.

Q: How do I know which upgrades I’m eligible for?
A: See the overview tab above to learn more about program eligibility. You can also schedule a free energy assessment to learn more. In general, eligibility is dependent upon your DTE Energy account type and the specifics of your multifamily property.

Q: What are the next steps after I receive a free energy assessment?
A: After your assessment, a team member will determine your eligibility and assist with your next steps in program participation. This could include scheduling your direct install appointment, contacting a contractor or submitting an application for prescriptive/custom incentives.
