The DTE Energy Multifamily Program is an energy efficiency initiative designed to help multifamily buildings reduce energy usage and energy costs.
By installing free energy-saving upgrades*, tenants and owners can save money on their utility bills, increase comfort and contribute to a more environmentally friendly living space. Owners can also receive incentives when they upgrade to qualifying, energy-efficient equipment, such as HVAC, lighting and water heating, at their property.
The DTE Energy Multifamily Program is for multifamily property managers and owners. The types of multifamily properties that commonly participate in this program include apartments, co-operative housing, condominiums, senior living facilities and dormitories.

Q: How do I know which upgrades I’m eligible for?
A: See the overview tab above to learn more about program eligibility. You can also schedule a free energy assessment to learn more. In general, eligibility is dependent upon your DTE Energy account type and the specifics of your multifamily property.
Q: What are the next steps after I receive a free energy assessment?
A: After your assessment, a team member will determine your eligibility and assist with your next steps in program participation. This could include scheduling your direct install appointment, contacting a contractor or submitting an application for prescriptive/custom incentives.
Q: Do I need to request an energy assessment to take advantage of DTE’s Multifamily Program?
A: No. However, we recommend having our team on-site to uncover all of the energy-saving opportunities available to you. To take advantage of the available incentives, an energy assessment is not required.
Q: I’m a property manager/owner with both DTE AND Consumers Energy utilities. Can I still participate?
A: Yes. If your property has one fuel type from DTE Energy and one fuel type from Consumers Energy, the Multifamily program can facilitate direct installations, assessments and program incentives for both utilities in a single visit.
