For Today, Tomorrow and the Future
For Today, Tomorrow and the Future
We are investing millions of dollars in the communities we serve with our electricity by upgrading all 7,600 square miles of infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable and affordable service. The result is a more dynamic and secure energy grid, plus peace of mind for you.
We are continuously enhancing and upgrading our 47,000 miles of power lines, one million utility poles and nearly 4,000 circuits to provide a more resilient electrical grid. The result is a smarter, stronger energy system for homes and businesses across Michigan.
Here are some of the ways we are ensuring you have the power you need when you need it.
Did you know fallen trees are responsible for nearly 70 percent of the time our customers spend without power? Learn how our Tree Trimming team works with our communities to prevent these outages from occurring in the first place.
Strong, sturdy utility poles are the backbone of a reliable electric system. We have an auditing program to continually assess the condition of all poles throughout our electric service territory.
We are replacing overhead power lines and other equipment to make our system more resilient. Overhead power lines are prone to damage caused by strong winds, ice, heat and accidents. Constant exposure to the elements can result in damage to overhead cables and eventual failure of the lines.
Substations are essential sets of equipment that transfer power from the grid to a voltage level your home or business can use. We regularly inspect and upgrade our substations to ensure our electric system meets your needs today and in the future.
Our new, modern stations, located throughout Southeast Michigan, will make the infrastructure stronger and reduce power outages and support future energy demand.
We are introducing new technology to enhance electrical reliability and customer satisfaction.
Our modernized grid and infrastructure investments drive economic growth throughout Michigan, which means more jobs and support for communities. Many of our system improvements are sourced through Michigan-based suppliers, helping to create and support more than 8,500 jobs in our home state.
