Home EV Charger Rebate
You could qualify for a $500 Level 2 EV charger rebate from DTE’s Home EV Charger Rebate program if you buy or lease an EV, enroll in a TOD rate, and install a Level 2 Charger.
Please see the residential rebate terms & conditions for a complete list of participation requirements. Customers must fulfill all three requirements before applying. See below for details.
Follow the four steps mapped out below to cash in
1. Buy or Lease an EV
Purchase or lease a new or used plug-in electric vehicle. Haven’t yet picked out an EV? Visit our virtual EV Showroom to find the EV for you.
2. Enroll in a Time-of-Day Rate
Before having your charger installed, decide what electric rate is best for you.
Any of the three Time-of-Day pricing options shown below could help you save on your energy cost for charging your EV, compared to being on the standard residential rate of 15 cents per kWh.

These pricing options offer a lower electricity cost overnight and all weekend long.
Prices per kilowatt hour (kWh) are rounded to the nearest cent. Rates shown do not include applicable surcharges or taxes and may change by order of the Michigan Public Service Commission.

EV Plan (D1.9)
An electrician will install an additional meter at your home, dedicated solely to your EV charger. The additional meter helps you to take advantage of a reduced energy rate for your EV charging. That reduced rate is available Monday through Friday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. and all weekend long.
The EV Plan is beneficial if your home's current electrical panel does not have capacity for the additional load required by a Level 2 charger.
Time-of-Day Plan (D1.2)
Applying to all energy used at your home, including your EV charger, this plan features a lower energy rate Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. and all weekend long.
The Time-of-Day Plan helps you save if your energy consumption patterns are flexible. Manage most of your energy usage – including charging your EV and running appliances (like your washer, dryer and dishwasher) – on weekdays between 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. and all weekend long for lower energy costs.
Dynamic Peak Pricing Plan (D1.8)
DPP is a three-tiered rate that allows customers with flexible energy consumption patterns to save money on their bill.
By shifting your home energy usage, including EV charging, to “off-peak” hours (11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, and weekends and holidays), you reduce energy costs. During times of extremely high demand for electricity, a Critical Peak Pricing event may be called. During an event, the cost of electricity rises. Please note that as part of the Dynamic Peak Pricing Rate enrollment agreement, you must remain on the rate for 12 months, and you cannot have a separately metered electric service, tariff or rate program, other than Rider 18 (if available).
*Critical Peak Events may be called on weekdays, excluding holidays, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. DTE will call no more than 14 events (56 hours) per year, and you’ll receive an alert at least six (6) hours prior to each event.
3. Choose and Install a Level 2 Charger
Purchase a Level 2 charger that is ENERGY STAR® certified or shares the same manufacturer as your EV*.

*Your charger must have been purchased after December 31st, 2021 in order to qualify.
4. Apply for Home EV Charger Rebate
To apply for a Home EV Charger Rebate, you’ll need:
- Your DTE Electric account number (an active account in good standing is required)
- A copy of your EV sales or lease contract with the date visible
- A copy of your vehicle registration with address visible and matching your DTE Electric account address
- Proof of purchase of a Level 2 charger after December 31st, 2021
- A picture of your installed charger
- If it is a plug-in charger, a picture of the NEMA 14-50 or similar 240-volt outlet at the residence
